When you're first starting out running, for me it's about keeping it simple and that's exactly what this book does! It's bright and colourful with a magazine feel to it and this makes it an easy and enjoyable read.
For ladies who are thinking about running or who have taken those first few tentative steps, you can't help but feel inspired by the many case studies and testimonials inside. These are generally from people who were brand new to running when they started, and tell of weight loss, battles against illness and depression and much more. I could relate to so many of the stories in there and I know that for many brand new runners, real life stories can be the key to giving them the courage to get out there and try it for themselves.
The book takes you through a 60 Second Secret Plan which again is perfect for those ladies who just don't know where to start. The plan takes you through step by step how to build from 1 minute of jogging all the way up to walk/jogging for 40 minutes. For lots of ladies this would give them the confidence to take part in their first Race for Life and finish it with pride
I love the way the book positively encourages walking as part of the plan. So many ladies see walking as failing when they first start running and it's one of the reasons so many give up in those early days. I also love the handy progress charts which accompany the plan and not forgetting a fantastic rewards system which allows you to treat yourself regularly for your achievements. An absolute must as far as I'm concerned!
All in all this book is a hugely positive and motivating read for ladies who are brand new to running or who are wanting to get back to fitness step by step. The book is full of handy hints on everything from nutrition, to what to wear and it is all done in a relevant, motivating and encouraging way.
